As you already know, the COVID-19 crisis has taken on unprecidented proportions. With containment measures, the closure of many public places, and social distancing, our lives have been significantly affected.
The Haldimand Press has already taken on measures similar to other businesses, such as by santizing our front desk after each customer to visit us. With the March 23 announcement that non-essential businesses will be closed and the Province’s urgent ask for people to remain home unless absolutely necessary, The Press has decided to close its office to the public until further notice.
Newspapers are an essential service because they are needed to get important information out to the public.
We will be doing our absolute best to continue providing service as we currently do. Staff will be available by phone (905-768-3111) and email (info@haldimandpress.com) to help anyone looking to put in an announcement, article, letter to the editor, advertisement, etc.
There is a mailbox on the outside of our building (6 Parkview Rd., Hagersville) that photos, information, or payments can be deposited in; please note on the envelope that it is for The Haldimand Press, and include a phone number that we can reach you at for any questions. In the coming days however, anything may change with very short notice. We are preparing for various possibilities, including worst case scenarios.
In the event that we are unable to print or distribute the newspaper in a hardcopy format, we will ensure all content is published online at haldimandpress.com.
We will remove our paywall on our website for articles and PDF copies at that time, so everyone will have uninteruppted access to the online edition of the newspaper.
In addition, we will put all paper subscriptions on hold; once things resume, we will add the number of weeks that were not printed in a hardcopy format to the end of all paper subscriptions.
We are hoping this step will not be necessary, that we will be able to continue producing and printing the paper in all formats for our readers.
