HALDIMAND—The Shoebox Project for Women has officially launched its 2026 holiday campaign, Together, We Build Hope, inviting communities across Canada to come together this season to support women experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
This year’s tagline, ‘One Shoebox. One community. One story of hope.’ reflects what The Shoebox Project has always believed: that meaningful change happens when people show up for each other.
Every shoebox packed, every donation made, and every volunteer hour given adds up to something bigger than any single gift, a season of hope built collectively, by community, for community.
Since 2011, The Shoebox Project has invited communities to fill and deliver gift-filled shoeboxes: thoughtful collections of everyday essentials, small comforts, and a personal note of encouragement, for women in shelters and community agencies across the country.
Local volunteer chapters and agency partners work together to make sure each Shoebox reaches a woman who needs it, in her own community. This year’s Together, We Build Hope campaign builds on that work, inviting donors, volunteers, and chapters to take part in whatever way fits them best.
There are many ways to take part this season: donate online, fill and drop off a Shoebox, host a shoebox drive with a workplace, school, or community group, or volunteer with a local chapter. However someone chooses to give, every contribution helps build hope for a woman in their community.
La Maison in Toronto, one of the many agency partners shoeboxes reach across the country, provided a comment about the program: “Every year, we see on the faces of our clients the joy that comes from receiving the shoeboxes and their contents. This initiative is one of the noblest expressions of solidarity with women who face the uncertainties and vicissitudes of life. It is a veritable treasure chest of kindness, a breath of tenderness and a helping hand that says, ‘You are in my thoughts and I carry you in my heart.’”
