CALEDONIA/SELKIRK—Haldimand firefighters were busy last week after three fires took place in two towns within 20 hours and 24 minutes of each other.

First, a home on Kinross Street in Caledonia was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 8:12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Haldimand County Fire Services extinguished the fire using aerial equipment trucks and confirmed all of the occupants had safely exited the residence.

A 54-year-old male was transported by paramedics to a local area hospital as a precaution for possible smoke inhalation.

Haldimand County Fire Services determined that the cause of the fire was not suspicious and started in the attached garage before spreading to the residence. Two neighbouring residences were also damaged as a result of the fire. The damage is estimated at $800,000.
