HALDIMAND—After The Press ran a historical piece on the Plank Road on Page 5 in its July 9, 2020 issue, a reader (who wishes to remain unnamed) invited us to photograph the above piece of timber that is on display at his workplace.

The Plank Road

By the 1830s, the people of Hamilton and Port Dover areas were tired of detouring through Brantford when they wished to visit or do business. Pressure was put on the government of the day to link Port Dover and Hamilton by road.
