TOWNSEND—On Saturday, March 27, 2021 the Townsend Lions had an amazing turnout for our annual spring food drive. Three vehicles full of donations were delivered to the women’s shelter in Simcoe the same day and they were ever so grateful! Shown above collecting the donations are Bill MacKenzie, Marv Fehrman, Zoltan Dohar, Debbie Dohar, Vic Cunha, and Jack McKeen. Typically on the Saturday of Easter weekend, the Lions host an Easter Egg Hunt along with a free lunch and bake sale. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 they are unable to host this, so instead they are hosting a virtual egg painting contest for children ages 0-16. Participants can submit their photos by April 2 through the Townsend Lions Facebook or Instagram, or to townsendlionsclub@hotmail.com. Winners will be announced April 5 with prizes to follow. On April 17 the Lions will be hosting another bottle drive fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can drop off all empties to the Townsend Lions garage at 58 Forest Park Drive, Townsend. —Submitted by Lion Angela Payne.
