DUNNVILLE—On Saturday May 27, 2023, True Experience Supportive Housing & Community Work Program will be hosting their seventh annual Car Wash and Bake Sale fundraiser.
The event will be held at 201 Forest Street in Dunnville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Included with a $25 car wash fee is a barbecued hot dog with a beverage and chips.
In past years, more than 100 cars have been washed in one day, with all proceeds benefitting the United Way.
Staff and clients at True Experience will be working tirelessly this week to prepare for the bake sale and visitors can expect to indulge in decadent treats such as pizza cookies with six sections of cookie flavours, Belgian cookies, macaroons, homemade fudge, and much more.
This event allows True Experience’s clients to give back, which helps boost their confidence and mental wellbeing.

True Experience is a not-for-profit organization that applies a holistic approach to healing and wellbeing for those who have been diagnosed with mental illness. The organization works directly with individuals through their housing program, the community work program and recreational programs which are partly funded by United Way. These programs are designed to help clients participate within the community. There is a grass cutting program, snow removal services, assisting with small moves, as well as helping seniors with home maintenance. The clients are paid for the hours worked which offsets their ODSP and enables then to feel accomplished by helping others in their community.
United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk creates opportunities to better the lives of Haldimand and Norfolk residents. The support from United Way removes critical barriers and provides opportunities for True Experience clients to visit places such as Ripley’s Aquarium, take in a Toronto Blue Jays game, watch a live musical production, or enjoy a hike in a conservation area.
