HAGERSVILLE—The Hagersville Food Bank’s stuff the van event was a great success despite the rotten weather on Saturday, December 12, 2020.

“Our community showed its amazing support again and came through for our clients. We continued to be amazed and humbled by the support we have received from so many members of our town,” said Dave Lane, Board Member. “Without them, we could not do what we do and many of our vulnerable neighbours would find life very difficult indeed. We are extremely grateful and thankful.”

It is estimated that the food donated, along with toys and gifts, was more than what the food bank normally would have seen with the Santa Claus parade. Donations approached 3,000 lbs., filling up the Heaslip Ford van quite well. There was a steady flow of donors throughout the four hours the event was open, and each car was given a hand painted ornament, courtesy of BJ and Charlie Garvie.

The food bank is having a very good week, as Hagersville Foodland also netted them $5,000 by winning the provincial Foodland Holiday Decorating contest, announced on December 15. A second food drive was also held later in the week at West Haldimand General Hospital.

The donations gathered for the Hagersville Food Bank inside the Heaslip Ford van.
