To the Editor,
This past Thursday, the Hagersville Chamber of Commerce (HCC) held an awards ceremony for citizens, volunteers, and service clubs in and around Hagersville, also known as Ward 4, at Branch 164 Hagersville Legion. It was hosted by the president of the HCC, Rob Phillips.
It was a wonderful event, and all the recipients were very much deserved in getting their awards. When I was attending, I noticed a lack of attendance of some of the candidates that are currently running for Ward 4.
I only saw one candidate present and he was sitting at my table. Now I may have missed someone, there were quite a few folks present, and if I did, I apologize. But my point is this, why weren’t the other candidates there? It was a by invite affair, and if they had their “ear to the ground” and reached out, they would have been more than welcome. Especially seeing how THIS IS WARD 4.
This would have been a great opportunity for the voters of Ward 4 to see their possible future councillor supporting all the folks, clubs and services getting their awards. Maybe they were just too busy.
Oh well, we at the award dinner (and it was a great FREE meal), missed them. Maybe next time.
Mark Dennis,
Hagersville
