JARVIS/TOWNSEND—The Jarvis and Townsend Lions were both among non-profits that recently had the idea to host a bottle drive in lieu of regular fundraisers put on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Jarvis hosted their drive on Saturday, June 13, 2020. Around two dozen members and community volunteers came together to organize the event.
“From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. we accepted refundable bottles at Craddock’s Garage in Jarvis. Residents were able to pull up in their vehicles, pop the trunk, open their back doors, or let us hop in the back of their trucks or vans to unload for them,” explained Lion Rick Fess. “No one had to get out of their vehicle and we followed the social distancing protocols in place. We also offered non-medical masks to anyone who needed one.”
