HALDIMAND—Since receiving a $166,692 grant from FedDev Ontario in June 2020, County staff had created and enacted a plan to help businesses through the pandemic. This outreach included funding and services to help businesses grow their online presence and marketing initiatives focussed on locally owned businesses.
“The initial marketing program, as created, was not without its own set of challenges. Originally, we had planned on several larger marketing campaigns that would reach to wider audiences, including neighbouring municipalities and into the GTA,” said Lidy Romanuk, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism. “However, with COVID cases remaining high in many of our neighbouring municipalities through the fall of 2020 and most regions in the red category, we recognized a need to change our focus and keep our marketing initiatives hyper-local.”
