HALDIMAND—The emergence of the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) party in 2019 came with a lot of media attention aimed at party leader Maxime Bernier, with many critics going after the hard-right stances adopted by him and PPC candidates across the country.
“The 2019 (election) was the introduction of the People’s Party of Canada, our first election. Not unlike the Reform Party that came before, our first election showings were not too far off the expected results,” said Haldimand Norfolk PPC candidate Ken Gilpin. “The political pundits had expected, if not wished us, to go away. Quite the opposite, we are here in this 44th General Election and we take ourselves very seriously. We have staked our political ground and we will stand our ground.”
He continued, “People are waking up and they don’t like it when they are gamed…. Erin O’Toole can’t choose the election results like he chooses a Toronto resident to run in Haldimand-Norfolk.”
