CALEDONIA—If you’re like most North Americans, you probably have clothes laying around that you never wear, but a local group is planning to help residents repurpose those extras.
According to the Waste Reduction Week in Canada program, North Americans send over 10 million tonnes of clothing to the landfill every year. Estimates show that 95% of this clothing could be reused or recycled. Caledonia Presbyterian Church is looking to help tackle this problem by diverting textile waste from landfills with a textile recycling event. The church first held the event in October 2018, and its success turned the event into an annual tradition.
