CALEDONIA —The Caledonia Lions held their first-ever cornhole tournament on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Caledonia Lions Community Centre. The idea came from the Lions’ newest, and youngest, members: Curtis Ryan, Trevor Messina, and Jaden Brownell, who are all under 25.
“We know of a few leagues that go on outdoors in the summer and we thought we could kickstart things with an indoor tournament,” said Ryan, who was the main event organizer. “We think it’s mostly going to be a springtime and wintertime thing, since leagues go on in the summer, but we’re hoping of bringing another indoor tournament back later this year.”

Jake McDougal is shown preparing for his next throw.
The event brought in about 150 people, 80 of which were players making up 40 two-person teams.
Food, which was donated by Wally Parr Sausages, and admission, which was $50 to play, brought in a total of $6,600, which will ultimately support the community.
The Lions would like to thank main event sponsor Haldimand Insurance Brokers and other local businesses who sponsored this event.
“We want to thank everybody for supporting the Caledonia Lions,” concluded Lion Craig Peters.
