CAYUGA—Liberty For Youth is hosting a 10-day, Recovery Run For Youth event. Each day, Executive Director and Founder Frederick Dryden and its youth council members will run a half marathon (21km) every day, conduct 21 daily speaking engagements, and host multiple roundtable meetings with youth to raise awareness and discuss solutions for the current issues they are facing.

Some youth council members from Cayuga Christian Fellowship have also planned to run a half marathon to raise awareness.

CAYUGA—Cayuga Christian Fellowship also had the opportunity to connect with Liberty For Youth on Saturday, April 30 as part of their Recovery Run For Youth initiative.

Liberty For Youth is an organization that works with at-risk youth in the Haldimand, Six Nations, and Hamilton area.

The Recovery Run For Youth is taking place until May 7, with the goal of bringing hope, awareness, and funding to its COVID-19 recovery plan. This plan will focus on mental health, education, and employment.

During the pandemic, youth depression and suicide rates were increasing rapidly. Sadly, it wasn’t very long before youth suicide attempts quadrupled and two of the group’s own youth lost their lives. They acted quickly to address the increased youth mental health crisis.

Cayuga Christian Fellowship is eagerly supporting this recovery plan and was encouraged by a testimony shared by one of the runners whose life has been dramatically changed because of the programming and support at Liberty For Youth.

The group’s funding goal is to raise $300,000 over three years. On April 30, Haldimand Motors made a $10,000 contribution.
