CALEDONIA—As previously reported, on June 26, 2022 at 7:54 p.m., Haldimand OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services, and Haldimand County Emergency Services responded to a report of a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Highway 6 south of Greens Road in Caledonia.
The vehicle had left the roadway and flipped onto its side. The driver, a 41-year-old of Hannon, has now been charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm.
One child that was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to an out-of-town hospital with serious injuries, a second child was also transported to an out-of-town hospital with minor injuries, and a third child was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver was not hurt and was found to be unlicensed, as it expired. While speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were observed and as a result, the driver provided a roadside test in which they registered an “Alert”. Subsequently, a three-day suspension was served to the driver.
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charge.
