HALDIMAND—Chris White, Mayor of Guelph-Eramosa Township and Councillor in Wellington County, and Sue Foxton, Mayor of North Dumfries Township, will continue in their roles as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Grand River Conservation Authority for another term.
Both White and Foxton were acclaimed by the GRCA Board of Directors at the General Membership meeting on Friday, January 27, 2023. Elections are held for both positions at the first board meeting each year. The 26-member GRCA Board is comprised of representatives appointed by the municipalities within the Grand River watershed.
“Conservation authorities in Ontario have experienced unprecedented change over the past few years due to amendments to the Conservation Authorities Act and other provincial regulations,” says White. “I look forward to providing consistency in leadership to the GRCA board and the many new faces around the table as we focus on working with all levels of government and supporting GRCA staff to implement the changes.”
During the meeting, both the Chair and Vice-Chair shared enthusiasm about new board members and praise for those returning in their roles.
“I am honoured to continue my service to the GRCA Board and eager to continue enhancing the relationship we have with Ministry staff,” says Foxton.
White has been a member of the GRCA Board since 2014. He was elected to the Guelph/Eramosa Township Council in 2003, became Mayor in 2006, and served as Warden from 2011-2014.
Foxton has been on the GRCA Board since 2015. She served for 14 years as Councillor for Ward 1 in North Dumfries Township before being elected as Mayor in 2014.
