CAYUGA—The Haldimand Curling Club (HCC) each season collects money from players every time a rock is thrown that does not go far enough to reach the in-play area at the other end of the ice sheet. Players tend to contribute more than is required and the “pig fund” grows very quickly. The money collected is given to a local charity. This season the amount of $915.60 was donated to MICE+ (Memory Inclusive Communities Everywhere Plus). MICE+ describes itself as “a group of citizens from Haldimand County who are sharing our experiences with memory loss and cognitive challenges to inspire and create a kinder, more understanding, helpful, and inclusive community for everyone.” Shown from left is: Kate Head (HCC Secretary), Kevin Proctor (HCC President), and Andrea Bridge (MICE+ representative). —Submitted photo.
