DUNNVILLE—Our fourth meeting took place on June 28, 2023 at Shared Harvest Community farm, where Jessica Carpio grows flowers for her business Bluewater Flower Farm. The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. and we began with the 4-H pledge and a roll call where we each shared our summer plans and how our flowers are doing.

After, Jessica shared her story of her flower farm, how it started out as a passion for cut flowers that began during the Covid pandemic and grew into a small business through which she sells cut flowers through community supported agriculture (CSAs), farmer’s markets, etc., and hosts workshops such as wreath and bouquet making classes.

Jessica then gave us a tour of her flowerbeds. We split into groups, one group planting gomphrena and amaranth seedlings, and the other group harvesting feverfew. After that we all cut some yarrow and delphinium and we each made a bouquet. Our next meeting was held on August 9 at Windecker Woods Flower Farm.
