Optimists award scholarship

DUNNVILLE—On June 25, 2024 Brynn Ironside received the Optimist Club of Dunnville’s Christina Pinnance Memorial Scholarship as recognition for her many hours of volunteering in the community. 

Brynn began volunteering with the Optimist Club of Dunnville over six years ago by running errands in the Optimist Hall for the late Distinguished President Christina Pinnance.

Not only has she been active in the Optimist Club of Dunnville, she has volunteered many hours with the Haldimand Special Olympics Bingo, with her school, and for several other events. 

Brynn logged over 200 community service hours while working part time and maintaining her grades at school.  

Brynn says that through volunteering she has gained a better “understanding of others and their unique situations” and is able “to connect with my community members and form life-long connections.”

Students graduating from secondary school to pursue post-secondary education and earning over 100 community service hours (50 of which must be with the Optimist Club of Dunnville) are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
