HAGERSVILLE—West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) will receive $1,272,440 from the Ontario government to complete important infrastructure repairs and upgrades.

“This funding will help us maintain a safe and reliable hospital for our patients, families, staff, and physicians. It will also help protect the services our community depends on and support our ability to provide high-quality care close to home.”
The money will be used to support several priority infrastructure projects.
Those include repairs and upgrades to building systems and replacing the hospital’s water main, which supplies water throughout the building.
As a news release from the hospital announcing the funding noted, “Patients and families may not always see this infrastructure work, but they depend on it each time they visit the hospital. Reliable building systems help prevent disruptions and allow care teams to focus on their patients.”
This one-time allocation is part of the $266 million being provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for the 2026 to 2027 funding year.
It will support Ontario hospitals in a variety of ways, including repairs, replacements, and modernizations of aging buildings and essential operating systems, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and safety improvements.
Jason Smith, Director of Facilities and Capital Projects for WHGH, noted, “This investment will allow us to complete important infrastructure renewal work across the hospital. Hospital care depends on building systems that operate safely and reliably.”
He added, “This funding will help us address priority needs, reduce the risk of unexpected failures, and provide a dependable environment for patients and care teams.”
