1st Selkirk BPSA Registration Night

A new scouting year is about to begin in Selkirk, and the 1st Selkirk BPSA is inviting local children, teens and families to come out and see what scouting has to offer.

The 1st Selkirk BPSA Registration Night takes place September 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Faith Centennial United Church, 28 Main St. W., Selkirk. Families can stop by to register for the upcoming scouting year and learn more about the programs, activities and opportunities available for young people in the community.

BPSA scouting combines outdoor adventure, practical skills, teamwork and community involvement, giving young people plenty of opportunities to learn by doing. Throughout the scouting year, participants can take part in outdoor activities, adventures, team-building experiences and community initiatives while developing new skills and friendships along the way.

Programs are available for a wide range of ages, beginning with children as young as five and continuing through the teen years. There is also a section for those ages 18 and older, making it possible to remain involved in scouting beyond the traditional youth programs.

For younger members, the Otters section is designed for children ages five to seven, while Timberwolves welcomes children ages eight to 10. Older youth can continue progressing through the scouting program with activities and challenges appropriate for their age group.

Scouting can be a great option for kids who enjoy spending time outside, trying new things and being part of a group. It can also introduce children to experiences they may not otherwise have, while encouraging independence, responsibility, cooperation and involvement in their local community.

The 1st Selkirk BPSA is also looking for adults who would like to get involved.

The group is actively recruiting leaders for both its Otters and Timberwolves sections. Adults interested in volunteering do not need to have children enrolled in the program to consider becoming involved. Prospective leaders are encouraged to contact the 1st Selkirk BPSA for more information about the opportunity and what is involved.

Registration Night is an opportunity for families who are already familiar with scouting to get ready for another year, as well as for newcomers who are curious about joining for the first time.

Whether your child is eager for outdoor adventures, wants to make new friends, enjoys learning practical skills or simply needs something new to look forward to, the upcoming scouting year offers plenty of opportunities to get involved.
