George, originally from Port Dover, was a well-respected police officer for 33 years in the town of Paris. George also spent many years driving transport trucks, straight trucks and dump trucks, as a second job early in his policing career and then again upon his retirement from the police department. After fully retiring and up until the last year or so, George became one of the morning “regulars” at Tim Hortons in Paris (Hwy 2&5), and also had regular breakfast and lunch meet ups with various different friends.
George’s passion was his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them many life lessons. George had a very prominent role in his grandchildren’s lives, his opinion mattered to them, and he was always good for a stop for ice cream or McDonald’s if they asked. George enjoyed northern fishing trips, Lake Onaping with Elayne and her family, and both fishing and ice fishing trips with his friends. George shared his enjoyment of fishing and boating with his grandchildren at the family cottage in South River. George was very proud of the cottage and the fact that he was able to leave this legacy for his family.
As per George’s wishes cremation has taken place. A joint Celebration of Life with his wife Elayne will be held in the future, date and location to be announced. To offer condolences please visit https://tranquilitycremation.com/george-wilton-wardell/.
George struggled with some very complex medical issues in his last years of life. Despite this; he was determined to care for Elayne in her battle against Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia, and he supported her to stay at home right up until June of this year, when they both became ill. Donations for Multiple Myeloma research, Myeloma Canada; Diabetes Canada or The Alzheimer Society of Brant in memory of George would be appreciated by the family.
