Great Art for Great Lakes to commission artists across Lake Erie up to $5,000

Great Art for Great Lakes (GAGL) unveils Lake Erie as the spotlight for 2019’s community-engagement art initiative—sponsored by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and in partnership with Haldimand County, Six Nations of the Grand River, and Norfolk County—to strengthen their relationship with the Great Lakes through participatory art.

To kick things off, three artist information sessions, led by GAGL’s Creative Director, Christopher McLeod, will be held in each community to give potential artists an opportunity to learn about what they did in GAGL 2017, and how to make their idea come to life.

Christopher McLeod says, “We are once again excited to be able to provide local artists with an opportunity to share their unique insights and skills as we connect and reflect upon the condition of Lake Erie. Through this social engagement project, the process of art making becomes a unique instrument for the sharing of knowledge, discussion, and empowerment.”
