A hardworking and respected businessman, Vern owned and operated a local service station in Hagersville for many years, becoming a trusted figure in the community. His devotion to his wife, Elsie, during her 12-year hospitalization was a testament to his unwavering love and commitment. In his later years, Vern found joy and purpose in his woodworking. From his workshop, he crafted countless wooden toys for children, which he donated to local organizations and used to raise funds for War Amps Canada, a cause close to his heart. His generosity and community spirit were recognized in 2018 when he was named Hagersville’s Citizen of the Year. Vern will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man who touched the lives of all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Hagersville Cemetery, with a celebration of life to follow at the Hagersville Legion, Branch #164. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to War Amps Canada in Vern’s memory.  Vern’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and love.Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville. www.rhbanderson.com
