SIMCOE—Last week, local MPP Bobbi Ann Brady took the opportunity in the Ontario Legislature to boast about the 60-year tradition of Simcoe Panorama River of Lights – a wondrous spectacle of hundreds of brightly lit displays and decorated trees in Simcoe’s downtown and parks.

“I have fond memories of being bundled up so warm and so tight I could barely move as the entire family made its way into Simcoe to walk through the snow and the Simcoe Panorama. My brother and I looked forward to the night, especially when there was enough snow to be pulled in our little wooden sleigh,” said Brady.

The 60-year tradition continues as Simcoe Panorama flipped the switch last Saturday to over 200,000 lights, numerous displays, and hundreds of decorated trees.

“Downtown Simcoe and its parks will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland,” said Brady.

Brady thanked the hundreds of volunteers who work behind the scenes all year round to ensure that displays are spruced up, in working order, and that the winter wonderland shines bright each day throughout December. The pandemic added further challenges, but she noted that the tireless group soldiered on, and a full slate of activities is on tap for all to enjoy.

The Panorama runs until January 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
