HALDIMAND—Brooke Martin did not originally envision a future as a politician. Growing up in a multi-generational household in Norfolk, she attended Western University, earning a B.Sc. in Nursing.

In researching the coming election, she found herself disappointed with her options. That is, until she found the Green Party. Martin was attracted to what she describes as “common-sense governing – meaning they want to follow evidence and science to solve problems; they think the government should be open and honest; and they want to collaborate with all the parties and all levels of government to create solutions that work.”

Upon finding the party had no representative here in Haldimand Norfolk, she decided to seek the nomination. “I think my background in healthcare, my connection to the community, and my perspective as a younger candidate, along with my passion and enthusiasm to make life better for the people of Haldimand Norfolk, make me the best candidate to represent us in Ottawa,” says Martin.

“The Liberals and Conservatives have had countless chances to fight for a better Canada, and they keep failing and not putting the needs of Canadians above corporate lobbyists and their parties’ desire to be powerful. Meanwhile the middle class is floundering, and our health and environment are deteriorating. Nothing changes if nothing changes.”
