CALEDONIA—‘Autumn Leaves and Pumpkins Please’ was this year’s theme for the 151st Caledonia Fair – and what a beautiful weekend for it. Known as “The Country Fair of Your Memories”, the Caledonia Agricultural Society promised fun for the whole family. Activities included a midway with rides and games, entertainers for both kids and adults, agricultural exhibits, community booths, a demolition derby, animal shows, the annual High School Challenge, and more. CALEDONIA—Agriculture and exhibits remained a huge part of the 151st Caledonia Fair, with entrants excitedly entering the fair when it opened September 28 to see how their exhibits placed. Those interested could enter animals, vegetables, fruits, baking, needlecraft, and more to be judged and given a placing based on the number of entries in each category. The Caledonia Fair website advises that over $50,000 in prizes for agricultural, homecraft, and school entries are given out each year. The weekend finished with the 50/50 draw on Sunday, October 1, and Fair Manager Ian Thompson said the winner was B. Allison of Cayuga, who won $4,250 and decided to donate the proceeds back to the fair. The quilt draw was won by H. Edwards of Etobicoke, taking home a quilt donated by the Caledonia Grand River Quilters Guild.
