HAGERSVILLE—Heritage Green Seventh-day Adventist Church delivered almost 200 protein bars and juice boxes, along with 80 flowers, to staff at Anson Place. The church included the following note with their donation: “During these unprecedented times, we wanted to let you know that we care about you and those in your home. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please accept these as a token of our appreciation for your dedication and courage.”

Heritage Green is in Stoney Creek, and the church had already been supporting the Heritage Green Nursing Home.

“They were one of the first ones with an outbreak and they got a lot of press; not all of it was positive,” said congregation member Rosemary Okimi. “Our church was supporting them with meals and the like because our church is on the same campus. Our pastor suggested we look for someone else who was hurting that we could reach out to.”

“Anson place hit the news about then and it sparked an interest because we’re locals,” continued Okimi, who lives in Hagersville. “I understand their pain, as I understand Heritage Green’s pain, and I thought it’d be nice to do something nice for them, so we did.”
