CALEDONIA—The Caledonia Corvairs rolled through a two-game set last week with statement offence and steady goaltending.
On October 9, 2025 Caledonia travelled to and defeated the Hamilton Kilty B’s 8-3. The Corvairs outshot Hamilton 62-43 and blew the game open in the second period.
Despite two goals from Hamilton in the first, the Corvairs settled in and tilted the ice. Ethan Osborne started Caledonia’s scoring at 12:25 of the first, assisted by Ethan Quick.
In the second, Jack Gallo converted on the man advantage at 2:50 from Micheal Derbidge and Quick. Gage Butcher added another power-play marker at 4:04 off feeds from Joey Wassilyn and Braydon Hobson. Derbidge pushed the lead at 9:27 from Carson Littlejohn, Tomas Hill snuck in at 12:16 with help from Mason Wharton and Osborne, and Hobson made it 6-2 at 17:05 assisted by Ty McHutchion and Gallo.
Derbidge tacked on his second of the night in the third at 13:02 from Nathan Marincola and Ethan Royer. Marincola then closed Caledonia’s scoring at 19:53 from Chayse Scott and Wassilyn. While Hamilton managed a single goal in the third, it was far too little too late.
Maverick Fletcher turned aside 40 of 43 shots for the win, steady through a penalty-filled middle frame. Caledonia finished 2-for-4 on the power play and killed off six of seven.
On October 11 the Corvairs outpaced the Welland Jr. Canadians 8-5 on home ice. The game remained close through two periods, but Caledonia ran away with it in the third.
Welland opened scoring in the first, but Ty McHutchion responded less than two minutes later on the man advantage from Kane Styres and Hobson.
Second period scoring was also tied, with two from Welland and two from Caledonia. Gallo struck on the power play at 6:44 from Tyler Clark and Littlejohn, while McHutchion scored again at 9:18 from Hobson and Hill.
The third-period push showcased Caledonia’s depth. Butcher scored at 3:28 from Marincola and Royer. Quick followed at 4:23 from Osborne. Connor Sooley made it 6-3 at 10:15 from Marincola, and Easton Swift added insurance at 11:03 from Hill and Clark. Gallo then buried his second of the night on the power play at 13:42 from Osborne and Quick.
Fletcher earned the victory with 35 saves. The Corvairs did take penalties late, but the power play went 3-for-7 while the penalty kill turned back four of five.
Across the two games, Caledonia posted 111 shots and 16 goals, with scoring spread across the lineup. Caledonia sits at 7-2 this season with a six-game winning streak, a power play continuing to trend upward, and solid goaltending.
The Corvairs visit Caledon on October 17 at 8 p.m., then host Hamilton on October 18 at 7:30 p.m.
