Darts tournament to raise money for Heart and Stroke Foundation: Alternative to annual Bike Bike event

HAGERSVILLE—While many remember the Big Bike being ridden through Hagersville to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation each year, it will not be returning this year.

However, the town will still be raising funds for research into heart disease and stroke by having a darts competition.

“It became so financially hard to transport the big bike around the country because you have to put it on a flatbed truck to take it anywhere, and it went right across the country,” explained one of the event organizers, Valerie Phillips. “The Heart and Stroke Foundation were not getting the response back that they needed to cover those kinds of expenses, particularly in smaller towns.”
