DUNNVILLE—Out of a love for people and entertaining, Dave and Mary Burden of Dunnville have unintentionally become famous.

A creative Christmas wish for friends and family on Facebook has evolved into an online, worldwide presence. A few years ago, Dave suggested they play their karaoke disc in the van and videotape a Christmas song, singing the original lyrics.

Inspired by James Corden’s Car Karaoke, the Burdens now match up songs with current issues and creatively change the lyrics, having fun with topics like the local Mudcat Festival, the legalization of cannabis, Canada Day, and even being sick. The couple adorns outrageous costumes to suit the topic of each Caravan Karaoke song.

The legalization of cannabis video was viewed 2.4 million times around the world. The Canada 150 video garnered comments such as, “I’m a Canuck living somewhere else and I loved your song.”

“Dave is creative, so you never know what’s going to tweak him,” said Mary. “We had something bust the window, so he wrote a song about it. It’s a creative outlet for him.”
