DUNNVILLE—On Friday, March 31, 2023 the Royal Canadian Legion #142 in Dunnville presented the Dunnville Hospital & Healthcare Foundation (DHHF) with a $20,000 cheque.
The cheque was presented to Penny Banks, Executive Director of DHHF, by Lisa Baatnas, the President of the Legion. The funds were raised through the Poppy Fund.
“We are so grateful for the Legion. These funds will help us achieve our $1.5 million commitment to Haldimand War Memorial Hospital (HWMH) for the purchase of a new CT scanner,” says Banks.
DHHF Chair Sandie Heirwegh, alongside President and CEO of HWHM and Edgewater Gardens, Sharon Moore, was also in attendance for the cheque presentation.
“I continue to be amazed by the generosity and the caring nature of our community,” says Heirwegh.
Moore adds, “Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone at the Legion for your support. We know you have a lot of choices when it comes to donating, and we are so grateful that you chose to donate to our hospital. Your donation is critical and it allows us to buy new medical equipment so we can provide excellent care to our community. Thank you!”
The current Toshiba CT scanner was purchased about 10 years ago and has become an essential part of timely and accurate medical diagnosis and treatment to the residents of Haldimand County, especially given it is the only CT scanner in the county.
Our community has a significant population of older individuals, including veterans, who benefit from easier access to our local CT scanner.
Keeping current with updated medical equipment will ensure we continue to provide exceptional care close to home.
If you would like to make a donation to the CT scanner, please visit dhhf.ca or call the Foundation office at 905-774-2529.
