DUNNVILLE—The Optimist Club of Dunnville recently took top awards at the Central Ontario District (CENON) 2017-2018 Awards luncheon in Hamilton. It was a bittersweet moment for the club when Christine Smith accepted the award on behalf of the 2017-2018 President, her grandmother, the late Christina Pinnance.
Optimist Christina began her four-year tenure as president in 2014. She led the Dunnville Club by example and kept the mission of Optimism – bringing out the best in the youth and community – as the focus of decisions made by the Club. Her dedication and passion for the youth in the community led the club to sixth place in the District in 2015-2016 and third place in 2016-2017. In October 2018, she stepped down and to enjoy her role as Past President. She passed away suddenly this past December.
