DUNNVILLE—Has your child outgrown their soccer equipment? If so, the Dunnville Youth Soccer Club is accepting donations of used and clean uniforms which they will launder and re-sell at a low cost to raise funds for the club.

Hilary Kennedy-Bucsis, Vice President of the Dunnville Youth Soccer Club, said the fundraiser has been discussed in previous years but this year they’ve made the leap to launch it. They will accept everything from cleats to shin pads to shorts and even socks.

“I had been seeing ads for used cleats and shin pads on (Facebook) Marketplace that were in excellent condition – and with the young ones especially, they grow out of these items so quickly and there is still so much life in them,” explained Kennedy-Bucsis. “So, I ran the idea by the board and everyone agreed it would be a great idea to be able to help out families in our community by being able to offer some affordable items while being able to raise some funds to put towards making improvements at the park and with the club itself.”

Still in the early stages, there are no prices set yet for those looking to buy, but the group expects to keep everything at $10 or less. Items for sale will be on display at the club’s canteen in the soccer park when it is open for games, and Kenney-Bucsis plans to post the items on the club’s Facebook page as well.

For now, those with donations can drop them off at Buckner’s Source for Sports in Dunnville during its regular business hours at the available donation boxes.

Once the games begin, donations will be accepted at the canteen, with the season expected to begin around the end of May, dependent on the weather providing good field conditions.

“We will accept donations all season long. This will be an ongoing fundraiser,” concluded Kennedy-Bucsis. “We’re looking forward to our soccer season starting soon and seeing all of you!”
