HALDIMAND—Haldimand County Emergency Services and Community and Development Services presented Council with 2018 reviews at the March 26, 2019 Council in Committee meeting.
Ward 6 Councillor Bernie Corbett thanked both departments for the presentation, saying the information provided showed the value to Haldimand citizens: “I want to thank the two departments with regard to the services … We often hear people don’t get enough for their money, but as we heard the Haldimand public is well served by both departments.”
Fire Chief and Manager of Emergency Services, Jason Gallagher, presented the 2018 annual report, which showed calls for both fire and paramedic services.
“It was a busy, busy year for us in 2018; the total incidents we were up from 2017,” said Gallagher. Fire services received 995 calls in 2018, an increase of 79 calls from 2017. The increase in calls was due to more motor vehicle accidents and medical calls related to drug overdoses. Dunnville continues to be the busiest fire station, followed by Caledonia and Hagersville.
