HALDIMAND—The following were discussed at the January 14, 2020 Council in Committee meeting. Any decisions were to be ratified at the Council meeting on January 22 after press time.
Delegation for potential future Swiss Chalet/Harvey’s
Ike Keesmaat, President of Keesmaat Homes, made a delegation to Council to discuss his proposal to purchase the property at 937 Broad Street East, Dunnville to construct a Swiss Chalet/Harvey’s restaurant.
“This would greatly benefit both the Dunnville and surrounding communities,” stated Keesmaat in his delegation request.
The details of the offer were presented in closed. Council voted to receive the information presented and keep the offer confidential; further information on the value of the land is being brought forward before Council makes a final decision. The possibility of splitting the lot was also discussed.
“I would certainly hope we wouldn’t see this type of thing slip by, but we can’t give land away either,” said Councillor Bernie Corbett.
