Hat trick helps Hawks win

HAGERSVILLE—The Hawks came up short versus the Dundas Blues on November 14, despite a good game.

Dundas opened the scoring in the first. The action was end-to-end. At the 17:20 mark Hawk Luke Leblanc tied it with Marcus Lazarevic and Jarett Moriarity assisting.

Dundas got the only goal of the second and both goaltenders made some great saves to shut out scoring in the third. Hagersville’s goalie Liam Wilson received the second star of the game.

The Hawks hosted the Niagara Riverhawks on November 16. The Hawks went down by one just 16 seconds in, but a minute later Hawk Moriarity scored unassisted. The action was end-to-end again. Niagara took the lead going into the dressing room and returned to score the lone goal of the second too.

Third period action remained fast, as just 55 seconds in Trent Chute brought the Hawks within one with Damon Decarie assisting. Niagara increased their lead again but the Hawks played hard and with 7:51 remaining, Chute scored his second goal with new player Carson Trevisani and Bevan Aitchison getting the assists.

With two minutes left in the third, coach Hartwick pulled the goalie for the extra attacker. Unfortunately, Niagara was able to clear their zone and put in empty net goal to win 5-3.

Chute was the Player of the Game for the Hawks.

On November 17, the Hawks traveled to the Port Dover Sailors. Neither team was able to notch a goal over the first two periods.

The third period the pace picked up and Lazaervic scored his first of three for the night with Brendan Sullivan picking up the assist.

The Sailers answered that goal at the 2:47 mark.

Lazarevic scored his second of the night at the 14:33 mark with assists going to Cole Jennings and Dylan Wardell.

With just over two minutes remaining, Dover pulled  their goaltender for the extra attacker. Lazarevic got his third of the night on the empty net with Leblanc and Wardell assisting.

The Hawks’ next games are November 21 in Niagara, November 23 in Streetsville, and a home game November 30 when they take on Dundas in the Hawks’ nest.
