Honouring Jarvis and area veterans

JARVIS—The Jarvis Board of Trade (JBT), with assistance from Haldimand County, has undertaken a new project to design banners identifying veterans from Jarvis and the surrounding area who served our country from the Boer War to present day.

The banners will be installed on the 10 ‘vintage’ lamp posts that were placed in the downtown area early in the streetscaping project undertaken in Jarvis over the past few years. Because there were only 10 lamp posts installed, the banners will feature a veteran on each side; that way 20 veterans can be honoured each year.

The intent is to hang the banners from late October until late November. The banners will then be carefully stored so that they can be displayed on an annual basis.
