JARVIS—The Jarvis Light Up Ultimate Edition Carnival and Rumble 3.0 on December 14, 2024 drew crowds from near and far. The event truly offered something for everyone: carnival rides, backyard style games, face painting, a photo booth, complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, hot dogs, and entertainment that included the Grinch Experience, the Jarvis Public School Choir, illusionist Lucas Wilson, the Gentlemen of Harmony, local band Silo, and singer Ashley Jepson. Capping off the day was the Rumble 3.0 featuring exciting giveaways, the announcement of Light Up contest winners (to be announced in the January 2 edition of The Press), and a spectacular fireworks show that even had the Grinch believing in the magic of the season. Event emcee Rock ‘N’ Ray Michaels of 92.9 The Grand later posted on Facebook that he estimated around 22,000 people showed up for this event. “The 2024 Jarvis Light Up Festival (at) Jarvis Lions Park was incredible!” he said. “So proud to be the MC/host of such an amazing event.”
The Bertrand family enjoys hot chocolate and cookies during the early hours of the carnival: Cheyanne, Austin, 7, Matt, Taylor, 10. While much of the fun at Jarvis Light Up is the chance to win great prizes, an underlying theme of the event is spreading good will and cheer by giving back to the community. This was proven with the overwhelming success of the food drive coordinated by the Doughty family, with all donors receiving a ticket for a chance to win a Kubota lawn mower donated by D & W Group.

Contributing to the fun atmosphere were youth volunteers in the Kindness Crew; Elf Malleisha and Elf Michelle could be seen dancing in front of the main stage. When not serving as an elf, Malleisha attends Hagersville Secondary School (HSS) and is a member of the HSS Crime Stoppers, while Michelle is a student at Assumption Catholic High School.
