Caledonia Corvairs
Junior B, GOJHL
Still in the regular season, Ryan Wells put Caledonia on the board only 13 seconds into their game against Fort Erie on Valentine’s Day. The remainder of the period was scoreless, but Caledonia jumped out in the second with consecutive goals from Cole Tymkin, Danyk Drouin, and Nick Giunta. Fort Erie got on the board, but Colt Corpse ended their momentum with another goal at the end of the second. Dylan D’Agostino got Caledonia’s final goal in the third. Fort Erie started to come back with two goals of their own, but they couldn’t close the remaining gap and Caledonia won 6-3. Hayden Dunford made 24 saves for Caledonia.
The Corvairs faced off against St. Catharines the following day. Caledonia was slow to get started, falling by one halfway through the first, but they controlled the remainder of the game. Joel Mazzilli scored in the first, Giunta scored in the second, and the third saw goals from Ryan Littlejohn and D’Agostino. The game was heated, including a fight in the second and four unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Aidan Hughes made 32 saves in the 4-1 win.
Caledonia played Fort Erie again February 17. Matthew Bridgwater opened the scoring halfway through the first, followed by Corpse a few minutes later. Both teams scored once in the second, with Caledonia’s goal coming from Tymkin. Marino Moro added one more for Caledonia in the third and the buzzer rang 4-1 for the second game in a row. Hughes had 31 saves in net.
Next, they head to Niagara Falls on February 21 and finish their season at home the following day against Thorold at 7:30 p.m.
