Letter to the Editors: Poppies in Canada

To the Editors,

I did not wear a poppy this year, but not for lack of re- spect for those in our armed forces, past and present. Quite simply, I met no one selling poppies, which would jog my mind and trigger a sale. If a poppy box was in any store I visited, it did not catch my attention, and no one drew attention to it.

New Zealand. Many new- comers to our country have no idea what these little red plastic flowers represent, and why we pin them close to our heart. It is up to us to explain, with patience and pride, what they mean to us.
