CAYUGA—Cayuga had a moment in the national spotlight last week as Dave Leblanc, known as The Architourist, paid a visit to highlight the new Library and Heritage Centre.

“Where Talbot Street West – also known as Highway 3 – bisects Cayuga Street into north and south, the new Haldimand County Library and Heritage Centre sits, beacon-like, and attracts patrons from nearby Fisherville, Sweets Corners, Canfield Junction, and Empire Corners,” states an article published in The Globe and Mail last week.

Former Ward 2 Councillor Fred Morison is proud of the hard work and planning that went into getting the project off the ground and seeing it through to completion during his tenure on Council.

“Both the museum and the library were older structures that were not able to meet the needs of current and future users. The old buildings were inefficient and in need of repair,” said Morison. “By combining these two services and building a beautiful new building on our main street, we were able to invest in Cayuga’s downtown and enhance both the library and the museum services.”
