CALEDONIA—Discussions on the Argyle Street Bridge replacement in Caledonia have been ongoing for many years, drawing attention due to the aging structure and the continuously delayed plans to replace it.

Following a reader request for an update on what is happening with the bridge, The Press first reached out to Haldimand County: “For the bridge, there are regular communications between the County and the MTO regarding the bridge project and associated works, however, details regarding project status and timelines should come from the MTO directly,” replied County representative Erin Haase to our request.

The Press contacted the MTO with a series of questions about the bridge, including a request for a new timeline for completion. A timeline published in 2019 projected that at this point in 2022 the new bridge would be built and in a temporary position while the old one was demolished.
