DUNNVILLE—On Wednesday, September 27, 2023 Grandview Lodge held their second annual car show on the grounds at Grandview Lodge.
Live music was provided by Brad Boland and many residents were out on what was a beautiful evening.
Jami Springer, Recreation Programmer, said, “Not only do we have a great community here at Grandview but the ones around us. They all volunteered their time tonight to come and fill our parking lot with cars and make sure our residents have a good time and support a good cause.”
Grandview held a fundraiser for the Parkinson’s Society, which saw Ward 5 Councillor Rob Shirton and Grandview Lodge Administrator Amy Moore vying to give the other a pie in the face.
Shirton said ahead of the event, “I’m hoping there are more people that want to see Amy get a pie in the face but apparently, it’s pretty close…. Either way, it’s a good cause and all for raising awareness for Parkinson’s.”
As it turns out, the donations were within $50 of each other and it was considered a tie. This meant that both participants got a pie in the face, raising $300 for a good cause.
Prior to the event a bake sale was held and raised $450 as well.
Grandview Lodge opened in 1910. It now facilitates 128 beds within four separate home units operated by Haldimand County, providing 24-hour long-term care to a diverse population ranging in age from 18 to over 100 years.
