FISHERVILLE—Haldimand County held the 19th Annual Recognition Night on October 17, 2019 at the Fishersville Lions Community Centre. The evening was a celebration of “the people who make Haldimand County a great place to live, work and play!” Mayor Ken Hewitt commended the almost 300 community volunteers in attendance for “daring to be vulnerable” as they generously give their time.

The first award of the evening was the Inspiration Award, which has only been presented on a few occasions for exceptional individuals. This year the honour was bestowed upon the late Ron Clark of Caledonia for “his incredible vision, leadership, generosity, and humility in volunteering and contributing to his community.”

Almost 40 nominations were made in 12 categories to recognize volunteer contributions to County festivals, events, beautification and recreation projects, and sporting activities.
