Reminders for Wards 1 and 4 byelection

HALDIMAND—On April 10, 2025 voters in Wards 1 & 4 will select who they want to represent them on Haldimand County Council for the remainder of the 2022-2026 Term. Eligible voters will be able to cast their ballot online, in advance, and in-person at polling stations. As voting day approaches, County staff are reminding residents of the following:

Voter Information Letters

Voters in Wards 1 and 4 have been mailed Voter Information Letters, which will be arriving in the next one to two weeks. This letter provides a Voter Identification Number (VIN) and confirms your name, address, and eligibility to vote in either Ward 1 or 4.

Any eligible voter in Ward 1 or 4 who does not receive a Voter Information Letter in the mail is encouraged to check, update, or add their information using the online portal at haldimandvotes.ca.

Residents of Ward 1 or 4 who have questions about their mailed Voter Identification Letter are encouraged to email election@haldimandcounty.on.ca or call 905-318-5932.

Advance internet voting

Internet voting will be offered for advance voting only beginning Monday, March 31 at 9 a.m. and concluding on Wednesday, April 9 at 5 p.m.

To vote online, residents will need to have their Voter Identification Number and PIN provided in their Voter Notification Letter. A link to the online voting portal is included in the Voter Notification Letter, and is also available at haldimandvotes.ca.

Voters who do not have home internet access can use one of the Haldimand County computer kiosks located in our libraries and administration building.

Eligible voters are strongly encouraged to vote online well in advance of the April 9 deadline. Eligible voters who require assistance voting online may call 905-318-5932 or e-mail election@haldimandcounty.on.ca.

Advance in-person voting

Residents can vote at any advance polling station, regardless of their ward. Three advance polls are being held:

Tuesday, April 1: Hagersville Arena (Almas Room) – open 2-6 p.m.

Wednesday, April 2: Jarvis Community Centre – open 2-6 p.m.

Saturday, April 5: Haldimand County Administration Building (Haldimand Room) – open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Voting Day – April 10

On Voting Day, residents of Wards 1 & 4 may vote at either the Hagersville Arena (Almas Room) or the Jarvis Community Centre polling station. Both Voting Day polling stations will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Other key details

Residents who are unable to vote in person or vote by internet may assign a proxy to vote on their behalf. Instructions and proxy assignment forms are available at haldimandvotes.ca.

In order to cast a ballot, residents must provide one piece of identification listing their name and qualifying address (e.g: driver’s license, utility bill, mortgage statement, etc.). A list of acceptable ID is available on the County’s election website.
