CAYUGA—This year’s Seedy Saturday took place at the Cayuga Memorial Arena on April 29, 2023 and was hosted by the Haldimand Horticultural Society (HHS) and the Dunnville Horticultural Society (DHS), who jumped on board to help host this year. The event featured numerous gardening vendors, artisans, and guest speakers. Left: First time visitors Melanie and Lawrence Blum of Hagersville are shown with pussy willow and verigated pink willow cuttings they plan to propagate. Centre: The eye-catching DHS booth was filled with unique and creative planters and some enthusiastic groovy gardeners; Ellen Guenther of DHS (left) is shown with Margaret Bottrell of South Cayuga. Bottrell, who owns Judy’s Plants, appreciates the work of DHS and says, “It’s a fantastic organization!” Right: There was fun to be had at the DHS booth as shown by Susan Emery (left) and Debbie Thomas in the ‘selfie’ display. The next event for DHS is their annual plant sale on May 13 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon in the east parking lot beside the bridge in Dunnville. —Haldimand Press photos by Sheila Phibbs.
