DUNNVILLE—Metropolis, Gotham City … Dunnville? Yes, Haldimand County is on the map with those famous fictional cities, as the DC comic book action show Titans filmed in various locations around town. The town will be presented as “Caul’s Folly” in the show, which wrapped up filming locally on July 12.
Titans follows a number of younger superheroes in the interconnected world of DC stories that includes iconic characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash. The central character on the show is Dick Grayson, AKA Nightwing, or as he has also been known in the comics and previous iterations, Robin.
DUNNVILLE—Production on Titans took place on the streets of downtown Dunnville, with the crew utilizing several filming locations around town during their two-week stay, including Knowles Restaurant (below right, photos courtesy of Ryan Wilkes).
Many residents in the area received a notification prior to the filming, which took place over the first two weeks of July in spots like The Shop General Automotive Repairs on Main Street East, the alleyway behind Ming’s Garden on Lock Street, and Knowles Restaurant on Queen Street. Banners were hung in downtown on the streetlights welcoming people to “Caul’s Folly”, and a storefront at the corner of Lock and Queen streets was turned into “Caul’s Folly Toys” for filming.
Some residents were lucky enough to meet stars of the show, including Nightwing actor Brenton Thwaites, while some residents got the chance to be even more closely involved with the production after a call for non-union locals to fill in as extras went out on social media prior to filming taking place.

Those participating were required to conduct COVID tests before coming to the location and were required to bring proof of vaccination as well.
Look for Dunnville to make its DC-universe debut when Titans returns to Netflix for its fourth season this October.
