HALDIMAND—Established in 2007, the Agricultural Advisory Committee has helped inform Haldimand Council on matters related to agriculture and agri-business for over a decade.
“The Agricultural Advisory Committee is an important link between Haldimand County and the agriculture sector,” said Lidy Romanuk, Manager, Economic Development and Tourism. “As one of our key sectors, it is important that there is ongoing dialogue between agri-business and Haldimand County to ensure the sector continues to flourish and grow.”
The committee is made up of one councillor, two representatives from the Haldimand Federation of Agriculture, two representatives from the Christian Farmers Association, one representative from the agri-business community at large, and various local farmers, including youth. When selecting the committee an emphasis is put on finding varying backgrounds and products farmed to ensure a balanced outlook. Together they serve four-year terms to align with Council’s term, with a new chair selection at the start of each year.
