Anne McAlpine: March 5, 2020

My friend, Aura Rempel, knows I like to read old cookbooks and she recently shared some of hers with me. I was particularly interested in the Guelph Celebrities Cookbook. It contains favourite family recipes from the Dean of the Ontario Agricultural College, several aldermen, automobile dealers, and many other local Guelph residents. I haven’t tried any of these yet, but several had comments and check marks on them. I found some of the recipe titles very intriguing, too. I have shared them exactly as they were printed in this interesting little book. Cold Weather Meal was contributed by Sean Pennylegion, Coordinator of the Guelph Information Centre. Sweaty Sock Souffle was an interesting read, too. I doubt that it will ever become a favourite of mine, but it certainly has an interesting title. It was contributed by Marlene Jofriet, artist for the book. Peter Gzowski, host of CBC’s Morningside, contributed his Fried Egg Sandwich recipe.
